Schwinn Paramount P14 Pista Track Bike 1972 – $1000 (Gramercy)

1972 Schwinn Paramount Pista with original paint. Size is a 56cm. Comes with mostly original campy parts except a upgraded track fork. It does have a few scratches but no dent and a beautiful patina on the graphic. Has tubular tires that do not hold air very well. I acquired the bike a year ago and was planning to ride it but never got around to it. Its a beautiful vintage Schwinn with its original components and and paint. Come check it out!

Please note: Original campy track bars and stem will be included. Also the bicycle is extremely dusty in photos, with a nice clean up it will look beautiful. It has been sitting for the past year.

1973 Schwinn Paramount Track

1973 Schwinn Paramount Track Bike. Campagnolo Pista Cinelli – $1000 (santa cruz)

Hi folks. I’m selling my beautiful and original 1973 schwinn paramount track bike. It’s roughly a size 59 but I’ll have to measure it again soon to make sure. The saddle height pictured I believe is 79 cm or so. It has a full original campy nuovo pista group but the rims are clinchers which are period correct. The bike originally had tubulars but they were in touch shape. One pedal is missing a dust cap and there are some pretty decent scratches on the top tube. These could be touched up to look much better, but it’s still a bummer. Aside from that, the frame is just lacking decals to make it look super legit. The stem and bars are the rare steel cinelli track bar and stem.

1972-73 Schwinn Paramount

Schwinns (of any stripe—though we realize that they’re not all created equal) aren’t really our thing so we don’t post up very many, but this one’s too nice not to share.

sp$_12

Early 1970’s Schwinn Paramount in great condition.
Very rare size. Excellent for any vintage cycling events.
Frame: Seat tube 50cm Center to Center, Top tube 53cm Center to Center.
Black with Chrome accents, Reynolds 531, Nervex lugs. Campagnolo Dropouts. We believe that it was repainted years ago since there is a water bottle cage bosses on the downtime and they did not offer this in the early 70’s bikes. However, the Schwinn decals are all original Schwinn decals on this bike, not the replacement stick on type decals. If it has been restored years ago it was done to very high standard.
Components: Campagnolo Nuovo Record Group, Crank length 170, 36- large flange hubs laced to Mavic Reflex SUP clincher rims. Regina 5 Speed Freewheel.
As an option we have a set of wheels that has 36-hole small flange Campagnolo hubs with Mavic MA40/front and G40/rear 700C hard anodized clincher rims laced with Stainless Steel Spokes available. We will leave it up to the winner to choose (both set of rims are not original to the bike as they were replaced many years ago from tubular rims)
Seat: BROOKS B17 in very good condition.
Cinelli Handlebar (old logo) and 1/A Stem (oval logo): 41cm wide and 80mm long.
Serviced and ready to ride.

Note: This bike is equipped with water bottle bosses on the down tube. According to some info received from “experts” that the early Paramount frames did not come with this option. Therefore, the frame may have been restored (to a very high standard) at one point in the past. The Schwinn decals on the seat tube and down tube are all original Schwinn decals. There are a few scratches and paint chips on the surface since it has been used since the restoration, but because of the main color is black they can be touched up easily. Most of the paint chips are just on the surface and not to the metal surface since there is a base primer under the paint. Chrome on the frame is in excellent condition. Most decals are intact. Overall the bike is in excellent condition considering it is 40+ years old. A true American Classic.
Some of the pedal’s chrome is off and showing some surface rust.

Nice

Can tell a lot of time, thought, and $ went into this build, as the finished product looks absolutely great. Shame the frame is so uninspiring.

Custom Schwinn Madison Fixed Gear Bicycle – Medium (54.5) – $1275 (NW Portland)

Schwinn Madison track bike: A beautiful classic fixed gear bike you can ride all year.

This bike was purchased new in 2008 as a winter training/fun bike. At the time, it was one of the only track bikes available with fender mounts and ample clearance to run proper fenders.

I personally enjoy building bikes and upgrading parts with a goal of creating an elegant look and impeccable function. This bike is no exception. From the attached pictures, you will see that I have taken meticulous care of this bike. Every part has been replaced and upgraded. Many of the aluminum parts have been painstakingly stripped and hand polished, bringing out the true beauty of the metal. Frame Saver has been applied internally to the frame to prevent inner rusting and a drain hole was installed in the bottom bracket shell. A new old stock original Schwinn head tube badge was added as a finishing touch. The result is a sweet ride that can be used year round. This bike has accompanied me on town rides, training rides, velodrome and circuit road races, and work commutes.

Wheels: Hand built using new old stock 28h Mavic Open 4 ceramic rims, DT Swiss revolution spokes, DT Swiss brass nipples, and Phil Wood SLR high flange polished track hubs.
-These rims are the predecessor to the Open pro rim, so they are very similar. The ceramic brake track will not wear out nor leave your bike with black aluminum residue after a wet ride.
-Regarding the hubs, I chose the SLR lightening option (windows cut in the flanges of the hub), which was an up-charge at the time but looks better than the solid flanges.
-The rear hub is a flip flop double fixed hub.

I will include 2 Phil Wood stainless lock rings. There is a 16t Dura Ace track cog currently installed. Wheels come with 23mm Continental 4 season tires, which are the perfect do everything tires.

Crankset: IRD Defiant 144bcd track crankset.
-This is an exact copy of the Campagnolo Record Strada track crank. I chose the IRD crank because the Campy cranks have a tendency to crack. The IRD crank is cold forged and then CNC machined, so they are much stronger.
-I also upgraded the stock metal and plastic crank bolts with Campagnolo all metal bolts.

46t chainring will be included

Bottom Bracket: Shimano UN 55 JIS square taper bottom bracket.
-Spins like butter
-I upgraded the non drive stock plastic cup to a Wheels Manufacturing aluminum version.

Chain: Sram PC 7X 1/8″.
-Low miles

Headset: Chris King no thread set.
-Has been stripped and hand polished to a mirror shine including the stem cap.

Stem: Velo Orange tall stack stem, 110mm,.
-Hand stripped and polished. A beautiful stem made to look like a vintage quill stem with it’s 17 degree angle.

Handlebars: Deda Zero 100 31.8 bars
-Stripped and polished to match all the other parts. Light, with a short reach, shallow drop, and an oversized top section.
-Fizik bar tape
-Classic Chinelli metal bar end plugs

Brake Levers: Tektro R200 brake levers.
-These brake levers are a copy of a Campagnolo brake lever.
-This model is currently discontinued and is hard to find. It’s also a more comfortable shape than the newer model.

Fenders: Velo Orange polished aluminum fenders with Honjo fork crown and seat stay bridge mounts.
-Using these mounts along with leather fender washers makes for a clean look and solid, rattle-free fenders.

Brake: Velo Orange Grand Cru long reach brake.
-Hand polished. Not anodized. No logos.
-One of the best long reach brakes around. Stout, classy fluted design, and uses ball bearings at the main pivot point.
-Upgraded with titanium pivot bolts.

Seatpost: Shimano Ultegra 6600 in 27.0
-Very rare.
-Stripped and hand polished.
-This is a one piece forged seatpost which is lighter then their earlier post designs and more done urable then the two piece Dura Ace post of the same era.

-Upgraded the seat binder bolt to a Campagnolo model.

Saddle and pedals are not included.
Terry Liberator Race Saddle available for $50:
-Black leather cover, Ti rails.
